Re: Request for ICC Chapter Status

Dear Mr. Tange:

I respectfully write to you on behalf of the Illinois Protective Officials Conference, (BOCA Chapter #13) to request your consideration for International Code Council chapter status. While ICBO, SBCCI and BOCA are in the midst of a numerous changes, the IPOC organization is committed to the ongoing development of the International Codes and their ultimate implementation across our country.

IPOC was created in 1961 and is comprised of 35 central Illinois jurisdictions serving close to two hundred individual members. The primary goal of the organization is to provide quality training and education to its members and to continue to raise the level of professionalism of the Code Official industry. IPOC meets nine times a year including six regular meetings, a Scholarship fundraiser, Executive Board meeting and an annual Illinois Council of Code Administrators meeting. This past year formal Scholarship and Mutual Aid programs were developed and implemented. Along with these programs IPOC produces an annual membership directory, a bi-monthly newsletter and is currently in the process of producing a website. IPOC was instrumental in developing the first college organization to receive chapter status; Illinois State University received official chapter status from BOCA in 1997. IPOC is a longstanding BOCA Chapter and has been consistently involved in the professional development of the Code Official industry through participation in the code hearings process, inspector certification programs, BOCA committee assignments and of course training and education. We are an accredited BOCA training provider and were named BOCA Chapter of the Year in 1996 and 2000, the only chapter to receive the honor on two occasions.

As C.E.O. of the International Code Council Im sure you have a variety of challenges and issues to address in the upcoming year. Please be assured the IPOC organization is committed to the continued development of the I-Codes and to the successful merger of the ICBO, SBCCI and BOCA code groups. I truly appreciate your taking time to consider this request and should I be able to provide you with any additional information please contact me as listed below. Thank you again and I look forward to hearing from you in the future.

Sincerely,

Greg Troemel
